Additional Degrees & Concentrations

(BS/Minor/Assoc) - The field of bioengineering harnesses the design and analysis principles of engineering to biological systems and biomedical technologies—then creating operational, tangible, economically viable products. Students will train in fundamentals of both biology and engineering, which may include elements of electrical and mechanical engineering, computer science, chemistry and biology.

(BS) - The field of microbiology is both a basic and an applied science that studies microorganisms and their activities. Students of this degree will focus their learning on the function, growth, evolution and interactions of microscopic organisms - such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Topics of study may include microbial growth, nutrition, metabolism, pathogenesis and the production of antibiotics.

(Concentration) - Molecular and nanoscale engineering degree concentration combine principles of both electrical and material engineering in the study of extremely small matter – like molecules, and nanometer-sized material –garnering impactful insights to further innovations to materials, processes and systems. Students will research and learn application skills that benefit a wide range of fields, including energy, healthcare, food and security.

(Assoc) - Designed for those interested in pursuing careers as laboratory technicians, this specific program allows students to concentrate their education across a range of technical specializations, including agricultural, food science, pharmaceutical and environmental. Graduates will be prepared to step directly into the lab or transfer to a four-year institution to complete their degree in Biotechnology.
