Overview

This position facilitates the success of Beck’s Soybean and Wheat Grower Program and provides high quality seed for conditioning.

Responsibilities

  • Receive soybeans and wheat delivered for seed.
  • Assist in taking calls from soybean and wheat growers.
  • Help set up inspections of soybeans and wheat seed field.
  • Perform inspections of fields as needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and current growers.
  • Assist in all aspects of grower relations including contracts, acreage allocation, and field quality issues as they arise throughout the season.
  • Assist in training and educating growers in the policies and procedures required in seed production to provide highest quality seed.
  • Collaborate with various agencies to assure all standards are met for seed quality.
  • Maintain current knowledge on planting and harvesting practices as well other environmental issues related to all phases of seed production such as disease, insects, weeds, etc.
  • Support the Soybean and Wheat Grower Director or Production Location Manager in functions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required by the Soybean and Wheat Grower Director or Production Location Manager.

Job Requirements

1.    Education and training:

  • Bachelor of Science in an agricultural related field preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy preferred.
  • CDL or Chauffer license or equivalent may be required.

2.    Technical knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess positive attitude.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, work as a team member, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Basic computer and current software skills.

4.   Travel and hours of work:

  • Overnight travel may be required based on project needs at Beck’s regional locations and may vary in duration of time.

5.   Experience:

  • One to two (1-2) years’ experience in field planting.

6.   Physical Demands

  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required.
