Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering

Degree Focus

From our clothing, to our next meal and the car in the garage–manufacturing enables the production of the goods and products of which we depend. Optimizing manufacturing processes to meet consumer demand and reach ultimate business goals is the focus of industrial and manufacturing engineering programs. Students will study and research process improvement theories and techniques, while learning to address issues related to cost minimization, product quality and production timelines. Additional areas of study may include occupational safety, employee management, sourcing and data analysis.

Additional Degrees & Concentrations

(BS) - Manufacturing engineering technology programs apply technology and technological advancements to manufacturing processes. Studies will focus on the technical design of manufacturing processes, system design, quality control, lean manufacturing and the implementation of green and sustainable practices

(BS/Minor) - Students pursuing a degree program in materials will research and study the chemical structure of solids and how they can be used to develop and improve material performance. Coursework focuses on the four elements of the materials field: processing, structure, properties and performance; including but not limited to polymer science, nanoscience technology, molecular engineering and manufacturing processes.

(Concentration) - Industrial and process engineering students will learn to become experts in efficiency – using scientific and mathematical principles to develop and improve processes for increased productivity. Graduates will be prepared with technical knowledge and skills in engineering, mathematics, science and management to analyze and solve production problems in today’s team-oriented work environment.
