Degree Focus

Cognitive science is the scientific study of the human mind. This is a highly interdisciplinary field—introducing and combining ideas and principles from psychology, computer science, neuroscience and linguistics. Human brain cognition provides an excellent framework for the development of advanced machines and programs, making this field especially beneficial for the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) efforts. Students pursuing this degree will explore intellectual abilities and processes; learning how they can be applied to develop intelligent devices such as AI, robotics and large-scale computational systems.

Additional Degrees & Concentrations

(BS/Minor/Cert) - Neuroscience and behavior degrees aim to better understand the brain and nervous system—and how their processes relate to behavior in humans and animals. Students pursuing this degree will explore and research topics related to brain structure and function, behavior, thought, memory, emotion, disease and dysfunction.

(Minor) - Students pursuing degrees in computing and digital technologies with a cognitive science concentration will learn data programming and technology techniques as they relate to the broader field of cognitive science. Students will explore a wide range of interdisciplinary topics such as data and artificial intelligence ethics, robotic ethics, human interfacing, introduction to biopsychology and cognitive psychology.
