Purpose and Scope<\/u><\/p>\n

Interns will be responsible for learning about and assisting with Beck\u2019s Research Department. \u00a0Interns will have the opportunity to take part in several facets of corn and soybean research including performance testing, corn breeding, molecular markers, transformation, and product development.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/u><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Seed Preparation\n
      \n
    • Travel and work at Beck\u2019s location for an extended period of time (housing provided) and assist with preparing seed for the upcoming planting season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Plot Planting\n
        \n
      • Travel with Beck\u2019s staff to outlying locations to assist with planting test plots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Data Collection\n
          \n
        • Assist with collecting early and mid-season agronomic notes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Breeding Nursery\n
            \n
          • May travel and work at a Beck\u2019s location for an extended period of time (housing provided) and assist with pollinating Beck\u2019s corn breeding nursery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Laboratory\n
              \n
            • May assist in molecular marker and\/or transformation labs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • Other duties as required by supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Job Requirements<\/u><\/p>\n

              Education and training:<\/p>\n

                \n
              • Currently enrolled as a college student<\/li>\n
              • Must possess and maintain a valid driver\u2019s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck\u2019s automobile insurance policy.<\/li>\n
              • This is a safety-sensitive position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Technical knowledge:<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Excellent verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n
                • Possess positive attitude<\/li>\n
                • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, work as a team member and proceed with objectives without supervision<\/li>\n
                • Overtime is required<\/li>\n
                • Overnight travel is required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Experience:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • Agriculture experience preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                    \n
                    \n
