Principal Function:\u00a0<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/b>The Food, Farm, and Energy Experience(FFEE) Intern is responsible for design, construction, and installation of an outdoor urban garden environment to engage guests, volunteers, and supporters. The Intern will work with community partners to establish relationships in the community while bringing awareness to the new facility. They will also be an integral part of the team in the overall land management plan including the natural resources on site.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/strong>Duties include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Execute a multi-year design, planting, maintenance, and harvest schedule for the urban garden.<\/li>\n
  2. Assist with land management plans which may include removal or treatment of invasive species, planting of native plants, establishing biodiversity counts, etc.<\/li>\n
  3. Collaborate with internal and external partners for support and use of the garden including food security organizations.<\/li>\n
  4. Coordinate and lead volunteer planting day and\/or garden tending day(s) (weeding, harvest, etc.)<\/li>\n
  5. Develop hands-on interactive activities to compliment FFEE topics.<\/li>\n
  6. Create social media posts throughout the experience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    • Experience in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, environmental science, landscape design, conservation, or a related field. Students with relevant coursework are encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n

      Length of Internship\/Hours\/Rate of Pay:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • 15 hours\/week for 12 weeks<\/li>\n
      • June-August 2026<\/li>\n
      • $14.00\/hour for up to 180 hours<\/li>\n
      • Will coordinate and flex schedule around academic commitments as necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.<\/p>\n
